Seasonal Flowers in the Heart of Cache Valley
FARMER MEETS FLORIST
Urban Flower Works isn’t a typical florist service or a farm. From seed to vase, most everything is grown from seed or bulb on a 1/3 acre suburban plot. Selecting plants that do well in Utah and benefit native pollinators is a passion here. Every corner that is plantable is utilized, from the parkstrip filled with native North American perennials and heat-loving annuals, to the side and backyards which now house a mix of native wildflowers, grasses and annuals.
The fresh flower season typically starts in April and lasts until October. In the Fall and Winter months, dried flowers abound that are vibrant in color and textures that are perfect for unique wedding bouquets, wreath making, ornaments and arrangements. It’s a passion to work with you in creating meaningful flower moments to mark special occasions and spread happiness.
Meet Farmer-Florist Maren
Urban Flower Works was created in 2020 after years of growing vegetables which morphed into an obsession of growing flowers. Maren graduated Utah State University in 2012 with a BA in Liberal Arts, taking many Landscape Architecture courses as part of her degree. In 2016, while working full-time in the medical device world, Maren was able to complete the USU Master Gardener Volunteer Program which is where she was introduced to Strawflowers at the suggestion of one of the agents. The rest is history as Strawflowers, Sweet Peas and Bells of Ireland began to take over the garden.
Her current passion is learning more about native pollinators and growing native plants in the home landscape. In 2024, Urban Flower Works received a grant from the Utah Pollinator Project which awarded 90+ Utah-native plants to add to the farm.
Unique Flowers & Sustainability
By choosing local flowers, you are supporting a dream and given access to some truly stunning blooms that otherwise would be difficult to import due to their fragility and poor ability to hold up in transit. All blooms grown here are done so without the use of herbicides as we do our part in working to maintain a healthy soil system and ecosystem. Reuse, reduce and repurpose is something we are passionate about as we do our best to find creative and beautiful solutions. We are delighted to share our knowledge and love of growing with you and the community. Feel free to reach out to see what’s in-season.
